The non-partisan election of city officials shall be conducted in all respects as provided by the laws of Kansas governing the holding of city elections.

At all city elections the polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m., unless different hours are set and publicly announced by the county election officer.

(a) A regular city election shall be held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 2023, and every two years thereafter. At such election, three Council Members shall be elected to fill terms of such officers expiring that year. At the election, the Council Members shall be elected for a term of two years and until their successor is elected and qualified.
(b) A regular city election shall be held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 2024. At such election a mayor and two Council Members shall be elected to fill terms of such officers expiring during that year. The candidates shall be elected for terms of two (2) years each and until their successor is elected and qualified. Regular elections shall be held every two years thereafter on the first Tuesday following the first Monday of November to fill the expiring terms.
(c) Whenever a tie shall occur in the vote for any of the officers to be elected, the results shall be decided by lot by the board of election canvassers.

The term of office shall commence on a date established by resolution of the city on or after December 1 following the certification of the election and no later than the second Monday in January following certification of the election. If a city does not establish an alternative date for elected officials taking office, the term shall begin on the second Monday in January.

In accordance with K.S.A. 25-205 and K.S.A. 25-2110, and amendments thereto, any person may become a candidate for city office elected at large by filing a nomination petition or a declaration of candidacy, accompanied by any fee required by law. The nomination petition must be signed by twenty-five (25) of the qualified electors of the City of Andale, Kansas.
